Our Gite is situated in a traditional hamlet on the GR7 walk
route, and offers a great base to explore the area, both on foot and further afield.
Our nearest town is Labastide Rouairoux: it is a small market town within
walking distance and caters for everyday needs. There is a friendly, helpful
tourism office and a textile museum. Slightly further are the larger towns of St
Pons de Thomieres and Mazamet. We have mountain lakes, Mediterranean beaches and the historic city of Carcassonne
within an hour's drive. Just slightly further the beautiful cities of Albi
and Toulouse.

Originating in the Andes and closely related to camels, Llamas are fascinating creatures. Gentle, friendly and easy to handle, once met they are never forgotten. Llamas are said to have a calming effect on those in contact with them. Traditionally used to carry loads and as a general purose animal providing fibre for spinning, dung for fertilising and meat for eating. Our llamas are kept for most of these purposes except that we don’t eat them!
